What other students say about the English Excellence Programme
How big are the groups?
The group size is not based on a fixed number. If the group is ever large, we have other tutors in the class that our team teaches as teaching assistants to help answer questions and make sure students get the help and attention they need.
Normally it might be in the region of 15 students before we do this, similar to a private school 🙂
Does it cover Language and Literature?
The course covers both Language and Literature because the skills needed are very similar -- we teach them together!
How long does the course run for?
The course runs until the exams next year (June 2025)
It works on a month by month basis, and 90% of students usually choose to stay with us right up until their exams - to guarantee the best chance of success!
(But if you need to cancel at any point, you can do so with 2 weeks notice and we will end your subscription at the end of that month)
Which exam boards is the course for?
The course is suited for all main exam boards (AQA, Edexcel/Pearson, Eduqas/WJEC, OCR, and Edexcel/Pearson iGCSE) because the content is 90% the same. Where the numbering or format of questions is different, we make this clear with differentiated resources.

How does the Maths and Science courses work and how do I join?
The Maths Mastery and Science Success courses are specifically designed for Higher GCSE Maths and Science, for students aiming for a grade 9.
They each include two lessons a week on Monday and Tuesday, 5:30-6:30pm (for Maths), and, Wednesday and Thursday, 5:30-6:30pm (for Science) and a weekly homework task for each subject with individual video feedback.
There is also a third class covering triple Science specific content on Friday, 5:30-6:30pm if you are doing triple Science.
It is usually £180/month for each subject, but we are offering it at less than half price (just £75/month for one (1) subject, or £112.50 for two (2) subjects) for students who join for English at the same time, today.
Once you have signed up and paid for your chosen package for English, the next page will ask if you want to add Maths or Science to your package, and you can simply select 'yes' or 'no'!
How do the group lessons work? Do you have to be on camera?
The lessons are on Zoom and they are interactive -- you put your ideas and questions in the chat. Students can raise their hands to unmute. You don’t have to be on camera though!
Who teaches the lessons?
The sessions are taught by different members of Jacob's team. Jacob oversees the entire program as the Head Instructor, and different tutors do different roles including teaching the groups and providing feedback on work.
All our tutors are qualified teachers with at least 5 years tutoring experience getting amazing results for students.
So you don’t just get support from one tutor -- you have a proven method based on the three steps to English Excellence that have helped over 400 students, and you have a whole team working together to continually improve and get you better results.
How do you deal with different Literature texts?
We focus on the core skills that examiners mainly look for, which are the same for each literature text, rather than just telling you to remember more quotes! However, we also have lots of resources on all the popular texts and can help ensure you have the knowledge needed for Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, An Inspector Calls, Blood Brothers, A Christmas Carol, Jekyll & Hyde, the poetry anthology collections, and many more, including all the Literature texts studied in AQA, Edexcel/Pearson (including Edexcel/Pearson iGCSE), OCR, and Eduqas/WJEC!
Is there a sibling discount?
Yes! The second sibling will receive 50% off their tuition package. To take advantage of the discount, just use this page to sign up for one child. After you join, our enrolment team will reach out via email and WhatsApp, so let them know you have another child wanting to join and they will help them get set up and ensure you can secure the sibling discount!
