What is the JPW Method?

The JPW Method is designed for students who are capable of getting top grades…

And want to learn the strategies that only grade 9 students are using.

Only 5% of students get a grade 9 each year for each paper…

Which means your child must be doing what 95% of other students are not!

Over this Summer holidays and into the new academic year…

We will be working with ambitious students to get ahead and be working within that top 5%…

Before September!

Who created the method?

The JPW method has been created by Jacob Williams…

An Oxford PhD educated private-school teacher and bestselling author who has helped over 400 students achieve their dream grade in GCSE English and Maths.

This year he has made the commitment to help as many students as possible…

Achieve the grade that they, their teachers and their parents know they deserve!

Other FAQ

1) How big are the groups?

The group size is not based on a fixed number. If the group is ever large, we have other tutors in the class that our team teaches as teaching assistants to help answer questions and make sure students get the help and attention they need.

Normally it might be in the region of 15 students before we do this, similar to a private school 🙂

2) Does it cover Language and Literature?

The course covers both Language and Literature because the skills needed are very similar -- we teach them together

3) How long does the course run for?

The course runs up to your exams -- so June 2024 for Year 10s and June 2025 for year 9s. Because it is skills based, the course is based on ability not year group.

Although lessons continue during school holidays, we understand some students may not be able to attend lessons consistently. During this time we focus mainly on revision rather than new content. If you wish to, you can pause your membership during the summer holidays and the three months will role over when you resume in September.

4) Which exam boards is the course for?

The course is suited for all main exam boards (AQA, Edexcel/Pearson, Eduqas/WJEC, OCR) because the content is 90% the same.Where the numbering or format of questions is different, we make this clear with differentiated resources.

5) How long is the commitment?

The course is a 3 month minimum commitment because we need this long to ensure you make progress.

6) When are the lessons?

English:

Monday 7:15-8:15pm (Language only)

Tuesday 6:45-7:45pm (Language and Literature)

Wednesday 7:15-8:15pm (Language and Literature)

Thursday 6:45-7:45 (Language and Literature)

Sunday 11:30-12:30pm (Q&A Session)

Maths:

Monday 5:30-6:30pm

Tuesday 5:30-6:30pm

7) How do the different tiers work for English?

Silver:
✅ One class a week (can select any one from the list above)
✅ Sunday Q&A session
✅ Weekly video feedback on homework
✅ Learning portal with recordings after class has finished

Gold:
✅ Attend up to all four of the main classes a week (at least 2 must be attended each week)
✅ Unlimited video feedback on all work submitted to us
✅ Sunday Q&A session
✅ Learning portal with recordings, and additional ‘Examiners’ Insights’, ‘Literature Lessons’, ‘Model Answers’ and over 100 hours of pre-recorded content on all aspects of the syllabus

(Maths is an additional £75/month when your child is registered for either silver or gold English)

Platinum:
✅ All of the above +
✅ Maths included for free
✅ Weekly MasterClass for high-achieving students — Covering topics such as: Oxbridge skills, guest speakers, academic mindset, careers advice. These are all things that school might not give you until sixth form, but you can get ahead by thinking about them from now!
✅ Private support channel via WhatsApp with Jacob — for advanced academic questions

8) How do the group lessons work?

The lessons are on Zoom and they are interactive -- you put your ideas and questions in the chat. Students can raise their hands to unmute. You don’t have to be on camera though!

9) Who teaches the lessons?

The sessions are taught by different members of Jacob's team including Daisy. Jacob oversees the entire program as the Head Instructor, and different tutors do different roles including teaching the groups and providing feedback on work.

All our tutors are qualified teachers with at least 5 years tutoring experience getting amazing results for students.

So you don’t just get support from one tutor -- You have a proven method based on the three steps to English Excellence that have helped over 400 students, and you have a whole team working together to continually improve and get you better results.

10) How do you deal with different Literature texts?

We focus on the core skills that examiners mainly look for, which are the same for each literature text, rather than just telling you to remember more quotes! However, we also have lots of resources on all the popular texts and can help ensure you have the knowledge needed for Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, An Inspector Calls, Blood Brothers, A Christmas Carol, Jekyll & Hyde, the poetry anthology collections, and many more.
